Charles Finnie
Charles Finnie, Managing Partner of Greener Capital, has over 25 years of experience as an analyst and investor in emerging technology companies. He is a Managing Partner and founder of Greener Capital Partners.
Greener Capital was founded in 2009 and has eight investments. Four of the eight have recently raised capital at prices higher than Greener Capital's price. None have raised capital at lower prices.
Prior to Greener Capital, Finnie was a General Partner at Crosslink Capital, a venture capital firm with more than $1 billion under management. His investment activities at Crosslink focused on Software, Internet, and CleanTech companies, both public and private.
Prior to Crosslink Capital, Finnie was a General Partner and Senior Research Analyst at Volpe Welty & Company, a technology-focused investment bank. He led the firm’s Internet practice, successfully completed over 50 IPOs and other profitable liquidity events, and was the highest generator of profits in the firm for several years. Finnie's investment recommendations, combined with his direct investments in early-stage technology companies, generated average annual returns of 31% over ten years. The firm was acquired by Prudential Securities in 2000 for 7x book value, still a record in the industry. Finnie was one of two Volpe employees (out of 150) required to sign a non-compete agreement as part of the sale.
Finnie holds a B.A. in Politics from Princeton University (1981) and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University (1984).
